Ray Nowak

Originally from Los Angeles, Ray Nowak is a founding member and trumpet player with the Presidio Brass. He also does a wide variety of freelance work throughout Southern California. Ray has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Pacific Symphony, Opera Pacific, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony. He is also currently a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony and the California Philharmonic. Recently, he has appeared as a soloist with the Santa Barbara Symphony, perfoming Herman Bellstedt's cornet solo Napoli. Ray was Assistant Principal Trumpet of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife for 5 years in the Canary Islands, Spain and has also held positions with Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, Spain as Assistant Principal Trumpet, Festival della Valle d’Itria, Martina Franca, Italy as Principal Trumpet, Orquesta de Baja California, Tijuana, Mexico as Principal Trumpet, the Pacific Music Festival, Sapporo, Japan, and the Royal Band at Huis Ten Bosch, Nagasaki, Japan.
Ray maintains a busy private teaching studio and coaches for several middle school and high school band programs. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the California State University at Long Beach, Bob Cole Conservatory of Music and a Masters Degree in Music Performance from UCLA. |
